Manchester City continue to reshape their squad under Enzo Maresca after an eventful summer at the Etihad Stadium.
The club have already overseen major changes following the departures of Bernardo Silva, John Stones, Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake.
City also broke their transfer record to sign Elliot Anderson, while Jeremy Monga and Mathys Detourbet arrived as part of the club’s long-term plans.
Despite those additions, further business remains on the agenda. Tottenham Hotspur continue to push for Savinho.
Roberto De Zerbi sees the Brazil international as one of his top attacking targets before the transfer window closes.
City do not want to weaken their squad without finding a suitable replacement first. That has forced the club to accelerate plans for another winger before making a final decision on Savinho’s future.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City have made direct contact with Pedro Neto‘s representatives to explore a possible transfer from Chelsea.
Romano states that City have already opened discussions with the Portugal international’s camp.
He adds that Maresca’s previous spell working with Neto at Chelsea has made the winger one of the manager’s preferred options.
The Italian journalist also explains that City’s interest depends largely on Savinho’s proposed move to Tottenham.
Chelsea, however, do not actively want to sell Neto and still see him as part of Xabi Alonso’s plans. Romano says any deal will depend on Chelsea’s valuation.
If the London club receive a significant offer, negotiations could progress. Otherwise, Neto is expected to remain at Stamford Bridge.
The report also notes that Tottenham admire Neto as well. However, Savinho remains their first-choice target.
Romano believes the Brazilian still has a strong chance of joining Spurs before the transfer window closes.
For now, Manchester City’s priority is securing a replacement before approving Savinho’s departure.
