Manchester City have entered a new era following Pep Guardiola’s departure after another successful campaign at the Etihad Stadium.
City won both domestic cups last season, beating Arsenal in the EFL Cup final before defeating Chelsea to lift the FA Cup.
However, Arsenal denied them another Premier League title, while Real Madrid ended their Champions League campaign in the round of 16.
Enzo Maresca has since replaced Guardiola and started reshaping the squad. City have already broken their transfer record to sign Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116M.
Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva, Manuel Akanji and John Stones have departed as the club moves away from several key figures of Guardiola’s era.
City could now make another enormous investment as Maresca looks towards two players he previously worked with at Chelsea.
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester City are keen on signing Enzo Fernandez and Malo Gusto in an ambitious double deal.
Fernandez has emerged as a major midfield target amid uncertainty surrounding Rodri’s future. Meanwhile, Maresca also wants Gusto as a specialist option at right-back.
However, neither transfer is currently advancing, with both players still firmly on City’s shortlist following their World Cup commitments.
Chelsea’s valuations also present a significant obstacle. The Blues could demand around £120M for Fernandez and approximately £75M for Gusto.
Therefore, completing both transfers could cost Manchester City a combined £195M. Fernandez enjoyed a productive campaign last season.
He scored 10 goals and provided four assists across 36 Premier League appearances.
Additionally, the Argentina international played an important role during his country’s run to the World Cup final before receiving a red card against Spain.
Gusto also featured regularly for Chelsea, making 34 Premier League appearances while contributing two goals and three assists.
The French right-back later represented his country at the World Cup, making four substitute appearances before starting the third-place play-off against England.
