Last season was a forgettable one for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola. The Spanish coach rarely has a season in which he fails to win a trophy.
Without Rodri, Manchester City suffered heavily. They were knocked out of the play-offs in the Champions League by Real Madrid.
They lost the final of the FA Cup to Crystal Palace, which was a telling blow for the Spanish boss and the board alike.
Also, they finished 13 points behind the Premier League champions Liverpool in the league table, which is something Pep Guardiola is not used to.
That is why Manchester City will make some changes to their team this season.
Kevin de Bruyne left the club after his contract expired and joined Napoli as a free agent.
Before they went to the USA for the Club World Cup, the Citizens signed Marcus Bettinelli, Rayan Cherki, and Tijjani Reijnders.
They also signed Sverre Nypan, but the 18-year-old might go on loan.
With all these signings, there is one name that is continuously getting linked with various clubs.
According to Sky Germany, his agent has agreed on personal terms with Galatasaray.
But, as per reports from Sky Sports, Manchester City want Ederson to stay at Manchester City.
Despite being linked with Diogo Costa from Porto, City want to keep Ederson. Also, they are looking at a reunion with James Trafford from Burnley.
Ederson publicly stated that he wants to continue with Manchester City.
And Pep Guardiola also has a firm stance, and that is, if a player wants to leave, he will allow the player to leave.
Now, it is up to Ederson. If he wants to leave, Pep Guardiola will allow him to leave. But, he has to inform in time for the Citizens to arrange a replacement.
It will be interesting to see what will happen in this Ederson transfer saga.
