Transfer windows are always filled with rumours. And Manchester City, being one of Europe’s biggest clubs, finds itself at the centre of plenty.

This summer is no different. Several players are expected to leave the Etihad. Some are heading out in search of minutes.

Others are part of the club’s long-term reshuffle. But one name that caught fans off guard recently was that of Nico Gonzalez.

The Spanish midfielder has only been in Manchester for six months.

He joined with high hopes and settled quickly into Pep Guardiola’s system.

His technical ability and composure on the ball earned him praise from the coaching staff.

So, when rumours started floating that he could be sold, many were confused.

Why would City part with a player who had only just arrived and one who fits the system so well?

That question gained weight when a report from Fabrizio Romano suggested that City would consider selling Nico if a strong offer came in. It sounded like a real possibility.

But within hours, the story took a turn. Simon Bajkowski, writing for the Manchester Evening News, responded with a very different message.

According to him, the club has no plans to let the Spaniard go.

Then came Xavi Espinosa, a trusted journalist from Spain.

He confirmed that the midfielder himself has no intention of leaving.

In fact, he is preparing to return to training later this month.

What had started as a transfer rumour now seems to be settled. And the truth is now out.

Manchester City want to keep Nico Gonzalez as part of their first-team squad for the 2025–26 season.

Despite the interest from other clubs, the Premier League champions believe the 22-year-old has a key role to play.

His growth, potential, and fit in Guardiola’s system are simply too valuable to ignore.

So, while other moves may still happen this summer, do not expect Nico to be one of them. He is staying put at least for now.
