Manchester United have their eyes on more than just new signings.

While the focus has been on moving players out and securing a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, there is another name quietly being tracked behind the scenes.

The Red Devils are monitoring a Chelsea forward whose place in the squad is no longer guaranteed.

Chelsea have been busy this summer. The arrival of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and Joao Pedro from Brighton has added serious competition in the number nine role.

One striker, in particular, now finds himself in a tricky spot.

Despite scoring in the UEFA Conference League final and helping the Blues win the Club World Cup, his spot in the starting eleven looks under threat.

He had a mixed season. He started the season strongly with goals and assists before Christmas.

But discipline became an issue. He got a red card at Newcastle, then another against Flamengo.

And in Chelsea’s biggest game of the year, the final against PSG, he watched from the sidelines.

Even though Chelsea lifted the trophy, Nicolas Jackson was left out, with Joao Pedro scoring the third goal to seal the win. Liam Delap was also trusted off the bench.

According to talkSPORT, Manchester United and Aston Villa are now keeping close tabs on Nicolas Jackson.

The Senegalese striker, signed for £32 million from Villarreal in 2023, has scored 30 goals and added 12 assists in 81 games.

Villa boss Unai Emery knows him well from their time at Villarreal. And with United needing attacking depth, he has emerged as an option.

Chelsea may now consider selling him to make room for their new stars. And if he becomes available, expect a battle between Old Trafford and Villa Park for his signature.
