Manchester United target set to sign new contract

Manchester United rebuilt their midfield during the summer but ended the transfer window without strengthening every area of Michael Carrick’s squad.

Andrey Santos arrived from Chelsea for £48M, while Youri Tielemans completed a £35M move from Aston Villa.

United later added Carlos Baleba from Brighton as they reshaped their central midfield options.

Meanwhile, several established players departed. Rasmus Hojlund joined Napoli, Casemiro moved to Inter Miami and Jadon Sancho left after his contract expired.

However, United could not secure one of their targets for the left side of defence before the window closed.

The club had shown interest in Newcastle United full-back Lewis Hall, but a transfer did not materialise.

United could now face another obstacle if they decide to revive their pursuit in a future transfer window.

According to NUFC Blog, Manchester United target Lewis Hall has agreed a new contract with Newcastle United.

The agreement will reportedly add another two years to Hall’s existing terms. It would effectively keep the 21-year-old at Newcastle for another five years.

Newcastle and Hall have reached an agreement, with the remaining legal formalities now being completed ahead of an official announcement.

The improved terms will reward Hall for his performances last season and his growing importance within Newcastle’s first team.

Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle regards Hall as an important part of his plans. The club have therefore moved to secure the defender’s long-term future.

Furthermore, Newcastle have no intention of entertaining offers for Hall despite Manchester United’s previous interest.

United wanted to revisit the possibility of signing him, according to the report.

However, Hall’s impending extension strengthens Newcastle’s position and underlines their intention to retain the full-back.

Carrick currently has Luke Shaw as his senior specialist option at left-back after United failed to strengthen the position during the summer.
