Michael Carrick transformed Manchester United after replacing Ruben Amorim midway through the last campaign.
United eventually finished third in the Premier League and secured a return to the Champions League. The club have since backed Carrick in the transfer market.
Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos have arrived to strengthen the midfield. Karl Darlow, Tynan Thompson and Kit Margetson have also joined the squad during a busy summer.
However, Manchester United still want more attacking quality. The club are searching for a winger who can add pace, creativity and greater unpredictability in wide areas.
Carrick also wants a player capable of operating on either flank. Now, United have identified a new target in Italy.
According to TuttoJuve, Manchester United want to sign Juventus winger Francisco Conceicao. Carrick reportedly views the Portugal international as a perfect fit for his project at Old Trafford.
The United manager particularly likes his ability to beat defenders, create chances and play on both sides of the attack. Conceicao enjoyed a productive campaign with Juventus last season.
The 23-year-old scored four goals and provided five assists across 42 appearances in all competitions.
His performances have established him as one of the most exciting wide players in Serie A. However, Juventus do not want to lose him.
The Italian club consider Conceicao an important part of Luciano Spalletti’s plans and have not placed him on their list of possible departures. Also, the winger remains under contract until 2030.
Juventus will reportedly demand at least €50M before considering a sale. They believe that valuation reflects his importance and would also secure a significant profit on their original investment.
Therefore, Manchester United may need to submit a major offer to change Juventus’ position.
Carrick remains interested, but the Red Devils must decide whether Conceicao represents the right final addition to their attacking options this summer.
