Still, none of those moves came close to being completed.
Now, it is Napoli who are pushing hardest. And they are serious.
According to Gianluca DiMarzio, the Italian side is set to offer €55 million to sign Darwin Nunez. That includes around €5 million in add-ons.
Liverpool had paid a huge sum to bring him in from Benfica back in 2022.
The original deal was worth £64 million, with add-ons that could have taken it up to £85 million.
So far, there is no sign that Liverpool are ready to accept Napoli’s offer.
The Reds would need to find a replacement first.
Still, Napoli are not backing down. They see Nunez as a perfect fit for their attack.
He is still only 26 and has plenty of time to find his best form.
