Newcastle United lead race for Chelsea star over Manchester United
This has been a transfer window that Newcastle United fans will not want to remember. They have made attempts to sign several targets but failed.
Newcastle wanted to sign Liam Delap who signed for Chelsea just like Joao Pedro who signed for the Blues instead of the Magpies and scored a goal in the Club World Cup final.
After that, Newcastle looked at Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford but the Cameroonian picked Manchester United over Newcastle.
Next Eddie Howe wanted to bring in Mohamed Kudus from West Ham United and the Ghanaian decided to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Things were about to get from bad to worse as the Magpies braced for a Liverpool bid for Alexander Isak, the main who was crucial in the resurgence of Newcastle.
After rejecting a bid for the Swede (who is now desperate to join Liverpool), Newcastle wanted to sign Hugo Ekitike to play alongside Isak. But, the French striker picked Liverpool.
Also, James Trafford went to Manchester City, a player Eddie Howe wanted for a very long time.
Now, the latest setback could come from their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko who seems to be moving towards joining Manchester United even without European football.
However, Newcastle United have identified another alternative who can replace Isak. According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle are looking to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea.
The Blues have set an massive price tag of £80 million for the Senegalese international. For Newcastle United, paying that amount will not be an issue.
But, they have to move quickly. Otherwise, there are other clubs who can hijack this deal as well.
Also, with Alexander Isak to Liverpool deal now looking more and more concrete, Newcastle United must get his replacement in time before they face Aston Villa in the Premier League opener.
That is why this Nicolas Jackson to Newcastle United deal will be very important for the season of the Magpies.
