Newcastle United endured a disappointing 2025-26 Premier League campaign as they finished 12th and missed out on European qualification.
Now, Eddie Howe faces a major rebuilding job after several important players left St. James’ Park during the summer transfer window.
Sandro Tonali joined Tottenham in a club-record £100 million deal, while Anthony Gordon completed a move to Barcelona.
The Magpies have responded by signing Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim and Sean Steur from Ajax to strengthen their squad.
However, Newcastle still need to strengthen their attacking options after losing Gordon following an impressive campaign last season.
The England international finished as Newcastle’s top scorer with 17 goals across all competitions, including ten in the Champions League.
Gordon also impressed during the World Cup before Barcelona secured his signature ahead of the upcoming campaign.
As a result, Newcastle are now looking at Manchester City as they search for another attacking option this summer.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are plotting a move to sign Omar Marmoush and are preparing an offer for the Manchester City forward.
The 27-year-old struggled for regular starts last season, making 38 appearances across all competitions but starting only 17 matches.
However, Marmoush scored three Premier League goals and provided three assists while also scoring three times in two EFL Cup appearances.
His ability to operate on the left wing and through the middle also makes him an option for multiple attacking positions.
Newcastle are keeping a close eye on his situation and could move if Manchester City indicate that he is available.
The Egypt international wants clarity over his playing time and role before making a decision about his future this summer.
Meanwhile, Newcastle could face competition for his signature, with Aston Villa also interested in signing the forward. And, Manchester City could reportedly be tempted to sell for around £60 million.
