Uncertainty continues to surround Marc Guehi’s future. But Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has now offered a clear indication of where the club stands.

The Palace captain has entered the final six months of his contract at Crystal Palace, opening the door to a free transfer in the summer. Naturally, that situation has alerted several top clubs.

Liverpool remain admirers after coming close to signing the centre-back on Deadline Day last summer.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are weighing up their options following a defensive injury setback, with Guehi viewed as a possible solution.

Transfer News Live already revealed that the Citizens are advancing very fast to secure Marc Guehi’s signature.

However, despite the growing speculation, Glasner does not expect his skipper to leave Selhurst Park in January.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Austrian was calm but realistic about the situation. He stressed that, at present, everything points towards Guehi seeing out the season in south London. Glasner said:

“I think Marc will stay. But if Marc says ‘I want to leave’, and a club pays massive money – with five months left of a contract – every player will leave if you’re playing for a club like Crystal Palace.”

However, Glasner was quick to add that there has been no indication of unrest from the player. He highlighted Guehi’s attitude in training and matches, insisting supporters have little reason to worry.

“Right now, when I see him playing, when I see him training, when I see his commitment, and when we are talking quite often together, then I think the fans can be really calm.”

For now, Palace remain relaxed. Yet, as Glasner admitted himself, football rarely stands still. If a huge offer arrives late in the window, the situation could change quickly.
