Pep Guardiola has made a decision on the future of a Manchester City star. This could soon see one of their most expensive recent signings head for the exit.
Omar Marmoush is pushing for a move away from Manchester City as he searches for regular first-team football.
Despite arriving in a high-profile €75 million move, the Egyptian forward has struggled to carve out a consistent role under Pep Guardiola.
The situation has become even more complicated in recent weeks due to the arrival of Antoine Semenyo.
The Ghana international has added further competition in City’s already crowded attacking unit.
As a result, Marmoush has been limited to just 280 minutes of Premier League action this season. This has left the 26-year-old frustrated.
According to CaughtOffside, Guardiola has given the green light for Marmoush to leave, acknowledging that he cannot guarantee the consistent minutes the player is seeking.
That decision has opened the door for interested clubs to make their move. Marmoush wants to remain in the Premier League.
And that stance has placed Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur at the front of the queue. Villa are especially attractive to the Egyptian international.
Tottenham are also in this race. Thomas Frank is looking to reshape Spurs’ attack and sees Marmoush as a forward capable of becoming a key player.
Also there are other clubs showing interest in Marmoush. Both Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are monitoring developments.
Reports suggest Fenerbahçe are considering a €30 million bid, while Galatasaray would prefer a loan arrangement. But Marmoush’s desire to stay in England has significantly cooled the Turkish options.
Also, Football Insider is reporting that Manchester City want to keep Marmoush and they don’t want him to leave in January.
As the window edges towards its conclusion, it will be interesting to what will happen with Omar Marmoush.
