There have been speculations around the future of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Many are speculating that this could be the final year for the legendary manager.
Behind the scenes, the Citizens are reportedly looking at various options to replace the Spaniard. The names like Enzo Maresca and Xabi Alonso are getting mentioned.
However, Guardiola is still planning the summer transfer window with Manchester City. They know that European giants will target many of their players. And one of them will be Rodri.
Real Madrid are keen to sign a holding midfielder, and Florentino Perez admires the Ballon d’Or winner. So, they could make a move for him.
Rodri’s contract with Manchester City will expire in 2027. So, the Citizens will be looking to negotiate a new deal for their star players.
However, they know that Madrid will come for him. So, Pep Guardiola has made a plan to thwart any attempt from the Los Blancos to sign him.
The Spanish manager has set a wild condition that will make it hard for Real Madrid to do any deal for Rodri.
According to a Spanish outlet, El Nacional, Pep Guardiola will only accept a swap deal if Rodri has to leave for Los Blancos.
And, in return for Rodri, he will ask for two Real Madrid players. The first player he would ask for will be Rodrygo. The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer.
If his situation doesn’t improve, then Rodrygo might look for this move as well. And the second player Pep Guardiola wants from Madrid is Federico Valverde.
The Uruguayan is not happy because for the majority of this season, he had to play out of his position because of the injury crisis that Madrid are facing.
So, if Real Madrid want to sign Rodri, Pep Guardiola has set a simple but wild condition; he wants Rodrygo and Valverde in return.
