Phil Foden attracts interest from Serie A giants

The Manchester City academy graduate managed 10 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances across all competitions last season.

Phil Foden endured one of the toughest seasons of his senior career during the 2025-26 campaign.

The Manchester City academy graduate managed 10 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

But he struggled to reach the standards that previously made him one of English football’s leading players.

His Premier League return of seven goals and five assists in 33 matches reflected those difficulties. Rotation also limited his rhythm throughout the campaign.

Meanwhile, concerns over physical and mental fatigue followed him into the summer.

The disappointing season eventually brought another setback when England manager Thomas Tuchel left him out of the squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Manchester City also experienced a transitional year following Pep Guardiola’s departure and Enzo Maresca’s arrival.

City spent heavily on new arrivals, headlined by the British-record signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

The club also recruited Jeremy Monga, Mathys Detourbet and Pierce Charles as Maresca reshaped his squad for the future.

Those changes have naturally increased speculation surrounding several established players at the Etihad Stadium.

According to SportMediaset (via Milan News), AC Milan are now considering a move for Phil Foden if circumstances allow the Serie A club to enter the race for his signature.

The report claims intermediaries have offered the England international to several clubs across Europe.

Milan see him as a possible addition to Ruben Amorim’s attacking options. However, any deal would depend heavily on Rafael Leao leaving San Siro this summer.

Milan are reportedly seeking around €50m to €60m from any sale of the Portugal international, a figure that could help finance a move for Foden.

The Rossoneri are currently rebuilding under Amorim after a disappointing fifth-place finish in Serie A cost them Champions League qualification.

Milan have already signed Goncalo Ramos and Mario Gila this summer as the Portuguese coach begins reshaping his squad ahead of the new season.
