FC Porto have had a busy summer transfer window so far, with them looking to push up the table in the upcoming season.
They have signed a number of players, with Jan Bednarek from Southampton and Borja Sainz standing out as key signings.
But they have also had a number of outgoings, which consist of Concalo Borges and João Mario, just to name a couple.
However, the Portuguese side has officially announced their new striker.
The player played 31 matches last season with them scoring an impressive 14 goals and contributing to 8 assists.
So this shows the player can add a serious goal-scoring threat and firepower to the side. Also, lots of experience which he has picked up throughout his playing career so far.
According to FC Porto’s official they have signed former PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona striker Luke de Jong.
Having announced the striker 26 minutes before kick-off against Atletico Madrid in a pre-season friendly.
The former PSV Eindhoven is classed as a legend as he has contributed to PSV winning lots of trophies over the years.
This is why he had lots of interest from clubs which consist of clubs in Saudi Arabia and Fiorentina, who are in Serie A after becoming a free agent this summer.
Luuke de Jong adds another dimension and a different style of play to FC Porto’s attack as well as competition and experience. With Porto already holding Spanish striker samu and Turkish striker Deniz Gul up top.
Overall this move suits both parties as De Jong adds competition and expereicne to Porto’s frontline which could be especially useful if Porto are looking to improve on their 3rd position finish last season. But it also benefits the striker as he was without a club after leaving PSV this summer as a free agent.
