Mykhailo Mudryk is back in football after a long spell away from the game.
Chelsea welcomed the winger back to first-team training after the FA cleared him to play following the resolution of his doping case.
The 25-year-old made his return during Chelsea’s pre-season tour, coming off the bench against Juventus. However, he wil not play a major role under Xabi Alonso straight away.
Chelsea want Mudryk to regain match fitness with regular minutes before deciding on his long-term future.
A temporary move is seen as the most likely option, with several clubs monitoring his situation before the transfer window closes.
According to Football Insider, Coventry City are now exploring a season-long loan move for the Ukrainian international.
Frank Lampard wants to strengthen his newly promoted squad and believes Mudryk could add pace and quality to his attack.
The Coventry boss worked with the winger during his time at Chelsea, giving the Championship winners confidence that he could help the player settle quickly.
Now, a Premier League loan would suit all parties. Chelsea want Mudryk to play regularly, while Coventry are looking for players capable of improving their squad.
The biggest concern remains the winger’s fitness. Mykhailo Mudryk has not played competitive football for almost two years.
And it may take time before he is ready to handle regular Premier League football. Chelsea will monitor his progress closely if he leaves on loan.
The club still believe he has the ability to succeed in England but want him to rebuild his sharpness before making a decision on his future at Stamford Bridge.
Coventry City are not the only club interested, with teams across Europe also keeping an eye on the situation.
Even so, Lampard’s relationship with Chelsea and his previous experience working with Mudryk could give the Sky Blues an advantage if negotiations progress.
