Chelsea are the world champions when it comes to club football. And, to be honest, nobody gave the Blues a chance that they would end up lifting the trophy at MetLife Stadium.
Many thought Enzo Maresca and his team would play a supporting role and PSG would run the show just like they did in the Champions League final.
However, this time, they were up against another European champion. Yes, Chelsea won the Conference League last year.
Even after success, Chelsea were the underdogs. But, in reality, Cole Palmer ran the show and showed why he is one of the most exciting talents in English football right now.
In terms of transfer business, Chelsea are doing a fantastic job. They need a goal scorer, and so, they signed two, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
Also, they are looking to sign an attacking midfielder. The Blues are closing in on signing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.
Talks with the German club are at an advanced stage, and it looks like the deal could be done any time soon.
But, the Blues are not planning to shut their door for incomings after signing Xavi Simons.
According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea are looking to sign a wide player after Simons. The Blues have set their eye on Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.
The Argentine is on his way out of Old Trafford after falling out with their manager, Ruben Amorim.
The 21-year-old had offers from other European leagues and the Saudi league. In fact, his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club Al-Nassr, wanted to sign him on the Portuguese’s demand.
However, Garnacho declined the move as he wants to stay in the Premier League and find a club that plays in the Champions League.
Ben Jacobs has reported that Chelsea could sign both Simons and Garnacho this summer. It will be interesting to see when Chelsea make a concrete move for Alejandro Garnacho.
