Liverpool’s preseason tour of Asia is underway.
They take on AC Milan today at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Sports Ground.
The score currently stands as 1-1 with 26 minutes played.
So far, Liverpool have played two preseason games.
After an away game against Preston North End and a behind closed doors affair with Stoke City, their Asia tour will ramp up the excitement ahead of the 2025/26 season.
This is a campaign where Liverpool will hope to retain their Premier League crown after their success in 2024/25.
They will kick off the Premier League season at home to AFC Bournemouth on August 15th.
A week prior, they will play in the Community Shield against Crystal Palace at Wembley.
Liverpool’s team sheet was released earlier today ahead of the 12:30PM kick-off.
Experienced stars such as Alisson Becker, Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah were all announced in the starting lineup.
Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, two ever presents from last season, also feature in the team, alongside youngster Rio Ngumoha and record signing Florian Wirtz.
Fellow new signings Milos Kerkez, Jeremy Frimpong make the bench, alongside Curtis Jones, Kostas Tsimikas, Cody Gakpo and Ibrahima Konaté.
However, the biggest headline to come from the squad is the absence of two names.
Preseason game indicates the exits of two Liverpool players
Colombian winger Luis Díaz and Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez are both not named in the squad, despite both travelling to their Asia Tour.
Díaz and Núñez has been linked with a move away all summer.
Napoli have been the team most commonly linked with Núñez, but this talk has waned with reports of the Serie A champions put off by the price tag.
Bayern Munich have been the team most linked with Díaz, and with the news that Alexander Isak is seeking a move away, this has only intensified rumours of a move for the Newcastle United striker.
With Liverpool said to be his preferred destination, it is seen as increasingly likely that neither Díaz nor Núñez will be wearing a Liverpool shirt next season.
