PSG set to confirm transfer pursuit for Spanish legend

PSG have been accelerating talks to sign a World Cup final hero, and Spanish legend this week.

He scored the goal that won Spain the World Cup.

The winner against Argentina in the final.

The biggest goal of his career.

Possibly the biggest goal anyone will score all year.

And now, just weeks later, Ferran Torres is leaving Barcelona.

PSG are accelerating to make him theirs.

PSG enter advanced talks with Barcelona to sign World Cup final hero Ferran Torres

According to Fichajes, PSG have initiated formal contact with Barcelona to accelerate the signing of Torres, with journalist Matteo Moretto confirming that the Parisian club want to close the deal this very week and that optimism at their end is growing.

“The Paris Saint-Germain want to accelerate negotiations to sign Ferran Torres this week,” Moretto posted on X. “The French club is looking to close the deal with Barça and believes the operation could be completed quickly. There is optimism on the part of the French club.”

Luis Enrique has specifically requested the 26-year-old Valencian forward.

The PSG manager values his versatility, the ability to play as a central reference or on either flank, complementing Kvaratskhelia, Doue and Dembele within his attacking system.

The timing is directly linked to Gonçalo Ramos’ departure to AC Milan, a vacancy in the squad that needs filling before the new season begins.

And Torres’ situation at Barcelona makes the deal possible.

He has just twelve months remaining on his contract, and has been given no guarantee of regular starting football under Hansi Flick, who is prioritising a different centre-forward profile with his pursuit of Julián Álvarez.

Torres himself has spoken.

In an interview on the Today Show this week, he acknowledged he was “evaluating options” for his future, a carefully phrased admission that the door to Camp Nou is closing.

Barcelona would rather sell now and generate a transfer fee than watch him walk away for nothing in twelve months.

PSG and Barcelona executives are scheduled to hold video meetings before Friday, August 7.

The target is to have Torres integrated into PSG’s pre-season preparations before official competition begins.

For a player who scored the goal that gave Spain their latest World Cup triumph, the destination that follows feels entirely fitting.

The Champions League holders.

The biggest club in France.

A reunion with the manager who knows him better than anyone in international football.
