Real Madrid and Barcelona set to battle for Erling Haaland in 2027

The striker remains contracted to Manchester City until 2034.

Real Madrid and Barcelona both strengthened significantly during the summer as they prepared for another battle at the top of Spanish football.

Madrid spent around €228 million during Jose Mourinho’s rebuild, with Yan Diomande representing their biggest investment of the window.

Marc Cucurella and Carlos Espi also arrived, while Bernardo Silva joined on a free transfer.

Barcelona reshaped their squad under Hansi Flick after Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres left the Catalan club.

Rodri arrived from Manchester City for €60 million plus add-ons, while Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi strengthened Flick’s attacking options.

The Catalans also added Gabriel Jesus after Atletico Madrid refused to negotiate over their pursuit of Julian Alvarez.

However, both Spanish clubs are already looking further ahead as another major attacking opportunity could emerge in 2027.

According to TEAMtalk, Real Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring Manchester City striker Erling Haaland ahead of a potential move in 2027.

Both clubs reportedly believe that year could provide an opportunity to pursue the Norway international if his situation changes.

Haaland signed a long-term Manchester City contract in 2025, committing his future to the Premier League club until 2034.

However, the report indicates that City could discuss his situation if the striker eventually decides he wants a different challenge.

The 25-year-old has shown no clear desire to leave the Etihad Stadium and remains focused on Manchester City.

Barcelona continue assessing their long-term options at centre-forward following the significant changes to Flick’s attack this summer.

Real Madrid are also expected to review their attacking options during the coming seasons despite having Kylian Mbappe in Mourinho’s squad.

Haaland’s situation could therefore attract further attention from Spain as the 2027 transfer windows approach.

For now, however, neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid have completed a deal or secured any commitment from Haaland.

The striker remains contracted to Manchester City until 2034, making any potential 2027 transfer dependent on future developments.
