Real Madrid went trophyless this season, a rarity for the Los Blancos.
Carlo Ancelotti left the club to Join the Brazil national team.
So, Xabi Alonso came in as the new manager for Real Madrid.
Therefore, new signings will be expected at Santiago Bernabeu this season.
They have already got Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool who should start as the right-back.
Now, it was time to sort the left-back position as the Los Blancos tried many players in that position last season.
They already have Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy as their left-back.
However, Mendy is injured and Fran Garcia started 24 times last season for the Los Blancos.
Xabi Alonso is looking for squad depth and that is why he wants another left-back in his squad.
He is looking for a left-back who can play a more advanced role linking up with his star-studded forward line.
It looks like Real Madrid are on the verge of signing such a left-back who can prove to be a very important player to turn the fortunes at Bernabeu.
According to Nicolo Schira, Real Madrid is getting closer to signing Alvaro Carreras from SL Benfica.
The Los Blancos have already agreed personal terms with Alvaro Carreras.
They are ready to offer the Spanish left-back a 5-year deal which will run until 2030 with an option for 2031.
Alvaro Carreras wanted to join Real Madrid but he has rejected offers from two Premier League clubs.
The Spaniard was in the Real Madrid youth system in 2019. From there, he moved to Manchester United.
He joined Benfica from Man Utd in 2024 and after that, he became the player everyone envisioned him to be.
In his first full season with Benfica, the left-back scored 4 times and provided 5 assists in 50 appearances.
That is why Real Madrid were adamant about having Alvaro Carreras in the squad. Now, it looks like, they have finally got the player Xabi Alonso wants.
🚨 Excl. – Alvaro #Carreras to #RealMadrid from #Benfica is at the final stage. Contract until 2030 with the option for 2031. Two english clubs were also interested in the spanish left fullback, who just wants to join Blancos and turned down the other bids. #transfers https://t.co/0eYdABwHyg
