Real Madrid are trying to recover from their recent injury crisis. A large number of their defenders are out because of injuries.

Both their right-backs, Dani Carvajal and Trent Alexander-Arnold, are out because of injuries. The Madrid giants signed Trent last summer as a successor to Carvajal.

However, injuries are making things tough for the Englishman, as he is yet to adjust to his new life in Spain. His recent injury will keep him out for about 8 weeks.

That is why Xabi Alonso has requested the Real Madrid board to find a right-back in January. And, the Los Balancos have found the ideal man for the job.

Real Madrid are closely monitoring Roma wing-back Wesley França as part of their long-term planning at full-back, with growing admiration for the Brazilian’s rapid adaptation to Serie A.

The 22-year-old has made a strong impression since arriving in Italy. He scored three goals in his first 13 league appearances and quickly established himself as a key figure in Roma’s title push.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona understood to be keeping close tabs on his progress.

European football broadcaster Andy Brassell believes the interest is justified but feels a January move is unlikely. Speaking to talkSPORT, he said:

“If you sign Wesley, it’s not just that he’s a right-back and right-wing back. He’s played left-back and left-wing back as well for Roma. So, he looks pretty versatile.”

Brassell added that Roma would only consider selling for a significant profit, suggesting a fee in the €40–50 million range.

Madrid’s interest also comes as Trent Alexander-Arnold continues his recovery from an ankle injury, his second setback since joining the Spanish giants.
