Real Madrid are preparing for significant midfield changes this summer after a disappointing campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spanish giants ended the season without a major trophy and reports suggest Jose Mourinho wants to reshape several areas of the squad during his second spell at the club.
Tension inside the dressing room also reportedly increased following recent controversies involving senior players.
So, Real Madrid have now started searching for a long-term solution ever since Toni Kroos retired, with several elite midfielders monitored during recent years.
And, Transfer News Live already reported that Jose Mourinho has picked a Manchester City star as his first Real Madrid signing.
Meanwhile, uncertainty continues growing around Manchester City after Pep Guardiola’s expected departure this summer.
City are preparing for a major rebuild after losing the Premier League title for the second consecutive season.
Several senior players face uncertain futures and reports suggest one key midfielder could now move closer towards an exit.
According to MARCA, Manchester City star Rodri wants to join Real Madrid this summer. The report claims Real Madrid view the Spain international as the missing piece in Mourinho’s midfield.
Rodri reportedly remains “very keen” on returning to Spain and Manchester City already understand the midfielder eventually wants to move back closer to family and home comforts.
The 29-year-old joined Manchester City in 2019 and quickly became one of the most important players of Guardiola’s era.
Rodri helped City win every major trophy available and established himself among the best midfielders in world football.
However, his current contract expires next summer. So, Manchester City may soon need to make a major decision about his future.
The Premier League club reportedly do not want to risk losing such an important player for free next year.
Now, with Rodri open to the move and City entering a major rebuild, Madrid finally believe they can sign him.
