Real Madrid interested in Tottenham Hotspur defender

Bringing him to the Bernabeu would strengthen their backline for years to come.

Real Madrid are planning changes to their defence next summer. With key players set to leave, the Spanish giants want to bring in fresh options.

David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger are both expected to depart in 2026. That means Los Blancos are already searching for their replacements.

The Merengues are pushing to sign Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool. The French international is not renewing his Liverpool contract which ends in 2026.

If Konate renews his contract, then the club’s recruitment team have identified another Premier League defender as a key target. One defender in particular has caught their attention.

According to a Spanish outlet, Real Madrid are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Micky van de Ven.

The Dutchman has become a key player for Spurs since joining from Wolfsburg in 2023. He has already played 57 games for the North London side and scored five goals.

This season, the 24-year-old has started four Premier League matches. He also featured in the Champions League win over Villarreal earlier this week.

Van de Ven even found the net against West Ham United, finishing like an experienced striker rather than a defender.

Tottenham value the player at just under £70 million. But reports suggest that fee will not deter Real Madrid from making a move.

What makes Van de Ven so appealing to Madrid is his speed. The Dutch international showed recovery pace that few centre-backs in Europe can match on his debut in 2023.

He truly helped Spurs go on a 10-game unbeaten run at the start of the 2023-24 season under Ange Postecoglou.

Although injuries have disrupted his time in London, he remains one of Tottenham’s most important players.

For Madrid, he represents exactly what Xabi Alonso wants from his defenders. Bringing him to the Bernabeu would strengthen their backline for years to come.
