Real Madrid are pushing ahead with a major rebuild after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign.
Los Blancos finished behind Barcelona in La Liga, exited the Champions League at the quarter-final stage and ended the season without silverware.
The disappointing campaign led to Jose Mourinho returning to the Bernabeu as manager ahead of the new season.
The club have already backed the Portuguese with several major additions.
Marc Cucurella arrived from Chelsea for €55 million, while Denzel Dumfries joined from Inter Milan for €20 million.
Real Madrid also secured the free transfer signings of Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate as Florentino Perez looked to reshape the squad.
Attention has now turned towards the future of Vinicius Junior. The Brazilian remains under contract until 2027, but negotiations over an extension have stalled in recent months.
According to TEAMtalk, Real Madrid have now delivered a clear message to the winger and his representatives.
The club want Vinicius to agree fresh terms this summer or risk being placed on the transfer market before he enters the final year of his contract.
Madrid are unwilling to allow one of their biggest stars to move closer to free agency in 2027.
The Spanish giants have already offered the 25-year-old an improved deal worth more than £400,000 per week.
This would leave only Kylian Mbappe earning more at the club. However, Vinicius’ camp are reportedly pushing for a package closer to £500,000 per week.
That figure would place him alongside the highest earners in world football. This would require Real Madrid to break their long-standing wage structure.
While relations between both parties remain positive, the coming weeks will be decisive.
Real Madrid remain determined to keep the Brazilian at the Bernabeu, but they are equally determined not to lose him for nothing.
