Real Madrid make Rodri transfer decision after sealing Bernardo Silva deal

Rodri’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires at the end of next season.

Real Madrid continue reshaping their squad after another frustrating campaign.

Los Blancos finished a second straight season without a major trophy despite boasting one of the most talented squads in world football.

As a result, club president Florentino Perez has pushed for significant changes ahead of the new season. The club have already moved aggressively in the transfer market.

One major piece of business appears close to completion after Bernardo Silva reportedly agreed a deal to join Real Madrid from Manchester City.

However, speculation has continued around another Manchester City star. Rodri has regularly been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Spain international remains one of the most influential midfielders in world football. His performances for both club and country have made him a target for several elite sides.

Yet a move to Madrid now appears unlikely. According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have decided against pursuing a deal for Rodri this summer.

The report states that signing the Manchester City midfielder is not currently a priority. That decision comes despite ongoing uncertainty surrounding the player’s future.

Rodri’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires at the end of next season. That situation means he could leave as a free agent if no extension is agreed.

Manchester City have reportedly placed a new contract offer on the table.  However, it remains unclear whether the midfielder intends to sign it.

For now, Rodri remains focused on international duty. The 29-year-old is currently representing Spain at the 2026 World Cup.
