Real Madrid have a squad filled with stars. Also, since Xabi Alonso took charge of the club, many players are getting less game time.
Players like Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior are already not happy with the way the manager is using them.
Rodrygo especially needs more game time. He wants to cement his place in the World Cup squad of Carlo Ancelotti, his previous manager at Real Madrid.
However, there is another South American at the club who wants more game time. That is why he has even asked to leave in January. And, Madrid seem open to letting him leave.
Real Madrid are weighing up a January decision after teenage midfielder Franco Mastantuono formally requested a loan move.
The 18-year-old joined Madrid from River Plate in August for €45 million and made an immediate impact under head coach Xabi Alonso. He quickly became a regular starter.
However, a four-game injury layoff in late November disrupted his momentum. Since returning to fitness, Mastantuono has struggled to regain a place in Alonso’s preferred XI.
He has been an unused substitute in four of Madrid’s last six matches and played just one minute in Sunday’s 2-1 La Liga win over Alaves.
According to Calciomercato, the Argentina international has now asked the club to sanction a temporary exit in January.
His priority is consistent minutes, with an eye on forcing his way into Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni’s plans ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Several La Liga sides have already made enquiries. Madrid’s stance is not yet final, especially with Endrick’s loan move to Olympique Lyonnais and uncertainty surrounding Rodrygo’s future.
🚨 Real Madrid are actively considering letting attacking midfielder Franco Mastantuono leave on loan in January.
He wants to play more regularly ahead of the World Cup amid hopes of being selected by Argentina.
