Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah in advanced talks to sign Manchester City midfielder

Al Qadsiah appear to have made significant progress with Manchester City.

Manchester City are preparing for major changes following a transitional 2025-26 campaign under former manager Pep Guardiola.

City finished second in the Premier League with 78 points after late-season draws allowed Arsenal to claim the title. But they secured a domestic cup double by winning both the EFL Cup and FA Cup.

Their Champions League campaign ended in the round of 16 following a 5-1 aggregate defeat against Real Madrid.

Guardiola then ended his trophy-laden decade at the club, with Enzo Maresca taking charge. Since then, City have started reshaping their squad under Maresca during a busy summer transfer window.

They signed Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a club-record £116 million, while Jeremy Monga arrived from Leicester City.

Meanwhile, several experienced players have left the Etihad Stadium. Bernardo Silva joined Real Madrid, while John Stones moved to Inter Milan on free transfers.

Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji also departed for Fenerbahce and Inter, respectively. However, another significant departure could now take place before the summer transfer window closes.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Al Qadsiah are in advanced talks with Manchester City to sign Tijjani Reijnders for around €60 million.

The two clubs are close to reaching an agreement, although Reijnders still needs to give his approval to the transfer.

The Netherlands international joined Manchester City from AC Milan before the 2025-26 campaign.

He recorded seven goals and eight assists across 2,810 minutes in all competitions during his debut season.

Reijnders started strongly by registering a goal and an assist on his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, he gradually moved into a rotational role under Guardiola.

The 28-year-old also represented the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He started all three group matches and provided an assist against Tunisia.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United remain interested in Reijnders and are closely following his situation. Romano reports that everything now depends on the midfielder’s decision.

Therefore, Al Qadsiah appear to have made significant progress with Manchester City, but they still need Reijnders’ green light to complete the move.
