This would be a big deal

During Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season tour, midfielder James Maddison suffered a brutal ACL injury.

Furthermore, Dejan Kulusevski is said to be out for the foreseeable future with a bone injury of his own.

With Spurs failing to get a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White over the line, they have been left short changed in the number ten position.

Out of the current squad, only Mo Kudus has played there regularly in his career, and many expect him to be playing out wide.

So, it is clear that Spurs could do with signing another player in that position.

Earlier this week, they were linked with a move to Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace.

Now, another target has emerged.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Spurs are interested in a deal to sign Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo.

They report that the Catalans are open to selling the player this summer.

Whilst Hansi Flick rates the player, he is someone with very inconsistent availability.

Furthermore, Fermin Lopez has impressed as the number ten during pre-season, and could be the starter there.

They state that Spurs are “top of the list” of interested Premier League parties.

Meanwhile, clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown willingness to make a major offer.

The Spain international is a wonderful player, who would add goals and assists to this Spurs side.

However, his durability is clearly an issue – and part of the reason Barcelona are willing to sell him.

As mentioned above, Thomas Frank’s side have enough injury concerns in that position.

The last thing they need is Olmo getting injured too, and having three number 10’s injured whilst on big wages.

Still, if by any chance he can stay fit, there is no doubt that he elevates this Spurs side.
