Earlier on this window, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.
Very shortly after that, they thought they were going to sign Morgan Gibbs-White too.
At that point, Spurs fans thought they were going to have Kudus, Gibbs-White, James Maddison, and Dejan Kulusevski as their number ten depth.
Now, it looks like they just have Kudus.
The deal for Gibbs-White fell through, Maddison suffered an ACL injury in pre season, and Kulusevski has a bone injury that will keep him out for a long time.
It once looked like Spurs had more depth than they knew what to do with in that position.
Now they don’t have enough of it.
Especially as they will be playing in the Champions League this season too.
There are no games against the likes of Qarabag where you can play an academy player instead.
So, it looks like Spurs’ attention has turned to the transfer market.
According to CaughtOffside, Thomas Frank’s side have established direct contact with Aston Villa for Jacob Ramsey.
They state that Villa want £43m for the 24-year old midfielder.
West Ham United and Nottingham Forest also have an interest in the player, as per their report.
A few years ago, Ramsey had a breakout under Unai Emery at Villa Park.
However, constant injury issues soon followed.
By the time he was consistently fully fit again, Morgan Rogers had taken his place.
Although Ramsey featured in 29 Premier League games last season, he only started 19 times.
Which isn’t absolutely terrible in a side like that, but it won’t have been as much as he wanted.
At Spurs, you feel like he will get plenty of starts.
Especially with Kudus often playing off the right hand side or in other positions.
Furthermore, Ramsey can also play off the left hand side, and Spurs have just lost Heung-Min Son.
This could kill two birds with one stone.
