Despite a positive start to life under Thomas Frank, it has been a disappointing transfer window for Spurs so far.

They were unable to secure the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest back in July.

Then the alternative, Eberechi Eze, turned down a move to Spurs to join arch rivals Arsenal.

That was followed by the news that Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie also preferred a move to Arsenal.

Nevertheless, they were able to complete the signings of Mohammed Kudus and Joao Palhinha, who have both impressed already.

There is also still a few days left to make signings, lest we forget.

Well, there could be another one in the pipeline.

According to GiveMeSport, Spurs have made an enquiry for Manchester City defender Nathan Ake.

They report that Spurs will use the remaining days of the window to “up the ante” in their pursuit of the defender.

In the opening day 4-0 win over Wolves, Ake was an unused sub, with Abdukodir Khusanov coming on instead.

He was again named on the bench against Spurs, though did come on after 23 minutes due to an injury to Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Nevertheless, that was a forced decision rather than a conscious choice from Pep Guardiola.

The City boss has admitted he wants a smaller squad than what the club started the summer with.

Which perhaps makes a move viable.

Everton have also been linked with a move for Ake this summer.

In a World Cup year, he will want a guarantee of game time this season.

Ironically, he will be competing with Micky van de Ven for a spot in the Netherlands side.

With Ake’s ability to play at left-back, he could play alongside his compatriot on the left side of the Spurs defence.

Destiny Udogie has picked up numerous injuries during his time at Spurs, though Djed Spence has filled in well.

Whilst van de Ven has also picked up plenty of injuries himself. We will see if they avoid as many injuries with a less high octane style of play.

Though, Frank did have very unfortunate injury luck at Brentford, so let’s see.
