Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa could return to the transfer market after completing major squad rebuilds during the summer.
Spurs invested around £380 million but have endured a horrible start under Roberto De Zerbi.
They remain without a Premier League victory after five matches, despite adding Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke.
Cristian Romero’s departure to Atletico Madrid also represented a significant defensive change during Tottenham’s extensive squad overhaul.
Villa experienced considerable turnover themselves, selling several important players before completing 10 additions under Unai Emery.
The two Premier League clubs are now monitoring the same experienced defender ahead of potential future transfer activity.
According to Christian Falk, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa remain interested in Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae.
AC Milan are also monitoring the South Korean international, with all three clubs having made contact over a potential transfer during the summer.
However, none of those approaches developed into a formal offer for the defender.
Kim currently sits behind Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah in Bayern’s defensive hierarchy, although Vincent Kompany continues to give him opportunities.
The Bayern manager remains satisfied with his performances and expects the centre-back to retain an important role this season.
Kim is also settled in Germany and is not currently pushing to leave the Bundesliga club. His future could become clearer when Bayern hold talks with the defender during the autumn.
Those discussions will establish whether Bayern intend to offer Kim a new contract or remain open to selling him.
Falk does not expect the 29-year-old to leave during the January transfer window, meaning Tottenham and Villa may need to remain patient.
Any potential move will instead depend heavily on the outcome of Kim’s upcoming discussions with Bayern.
Tottenham, Villa and Milan therefore remain interested, but no club has progressed towards a concrete transfer at this stage.
