Tottenham Hotspur eye move for Barcelona forward

Tottenham still want a blockbuster signing before the window closes.

Tottenham Hotspur endured another miserable Premier League campaign last season. They finished 17th and only secured survival on the final day.

The club also changed managers twice before Roberto De Zerbi eventually steadied the situation.

Spurs have responded with an aggressive summer rebuild. Sandro Tonali arrived from Newcastle United for up to £100 million.

Mateus Fernandes followed from West Ham in an £85 million deal. Tottenham also strengthened their defence with Jan Paul van Hecke, Andrew Robertson and Marcos Senesi.

The changes have already produced encouraging signs during pre-season. Spurs beat MK Dons and Auckland FC before overcoming Sydney FC on penalties.

They then claimed an impressive 2-1 victory over Chelsea in Sydney. De Zerbi’s side will now face Getafe and Hoffenheim before the Premier League season begins.

Tottenham still want another winger before the window closes. Savinho remains a major target, while Cody Gakpo has also been discussed after Spurs contacted his representatives.

According to El Nacional, Tottenham Hotspur have now added Raphinha to their list of attacking options.

Raphinha’s previous Premier League experience with Leeds United also makes him an attractive option. However, completing a deal would be extremely difficult.

Raphinha has no intention of leaving Barcelona and wants to remain at the Camp Nou. He has not asked the club to consider offers.

The 29-year-old endured several injury problems last season but still produced excellent numbers. He scored 21 goals and supplied eight assists across 33 appearances in all competitions.

Raphinha also travelled to the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Brazil. However, another hamstring injury limited him to only two appearances before Brazil’s Round of 16 elimination.

Barcelona have also strengthened their attack this summer by signing Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Jesse Bisiwu.

Despite that competition, the club still view Raphinha as an important player. Spurs can keep monitoring the situation, but convincing both Barcelona and Raphinha currently looks like a major challenge.
