Tottenham Hotspur are already planning major defensive changes ahead of the summer transfer window.
The club is expected to lose key players at the back, especially if they fail to avoid relegation. Spurs are currently sitting just two points above the bottom three with only three games remaining.
That has increased uncertainty around the squad and raised fears over possible departures.
Defenders like Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both expected to attract strong interest if Tottenham fail to secure Premier League survival.
Because of that, the club has already started looking for replacements. One player high on their shortlist is a defender who has quietly impressed in the Premier League over the last few seasons.
Marcos Senesi can become available this summer, which makes the situation even more attractive for interested clubs.
Tottenham have already made progress behind the scenes. Reportedly, they have agreed on personal terms already, although the move still depends on the club avoiding relegation.
However, Spurs are now facing a fresh concern. According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are considering a move for Marcos Senesi, which could put Tottenham’s plans in serious danger.
Liverpool will enter the market for a centre-back if Ibrahima Konate leaves the club this summer.
Former sporting director Richard Hughes also knows Senesi well after signing him for Bournemouth from Feyenoord in 2022.
Since arriving in England, the Argentine defender has established himself as one of Bournemouth’s key players. He has made 124 appearances for the club and played a major role under Andoni Iraola.
Bournemouth are still fighting for European qualification and can mathematically qualify for the Champions League.
For Tottenham Hotspur, though, the bigger concern is losing a player they believed was close to joining them. Now, with Liverpool entering the picture, the situation could quickly change.
