Tottenham Hotspur have wasted little time reshaping their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Roberto De Zerbi has already welcomed four new signings as the club looks to build a team capable of challenging near the top of the table.
The early business has largely focused on strengthening the defence and goalkeeping department.
However, Tottenham’s recruitment drive is far from complete, with the club now turning its attention towards midfield and attack.
Talks over Sandro Tonali continue to gather pace, while reports also suggest Spurs have reached an agreement on personal terms with Mateus Fernandes.
Even so, another centre-forward remains firmly on the club’s shortlist as De Zerbi searches for greater competition in the final third.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur have now made contact with Chelsea over the possible signing of Liam Delap this summer.
The 23-year-old only joined Chelsea last year after an impressive campaign with Ipswich Town.
However, he struggled to replicate that form at Stamford Bridge, scoring just twice in all competitions during a difficult first season.
Injuries, disciplinary issues and inconsistent performances all contributed to Delap’s disappointing campaign.
As a result, Chelsea could now consider offers for the striker despite signing him only 12 months ago.
Chelsea reportedly value Delap at £40 million, having paid around £30 million to secure his services last summer.
That asking price could complicate negotiations, although Tottenham remain interested in exploring a deal.
Spurs are not alone in monitoring the situation. Newcastle United and Everton have also expressed interest in Delap. So, Tottenham could face competition if they decide to step up their pursuit.
Whether Tottenham convert their interest into a formal offer now depends on Chelsea’s stance during negotiations.
For now, Delap has emerged as another unexpected name on Spurs’ growing summer shortlist.
