Real Madrid are facing a crucial period as they continue shaping their squad for the 2026-27 season.
Jose Mourinho’s side remain active in the transfer market, but several key decisions are still pending before the window closes. The Spanish giants are also working to resolve the long-term future of Vinicius Junior.
The Brazilian has entered the final year of his contract, with the club keen to avoid losing one of their biggest stars for nothing next summer.
At the same time, Real Madrid are progressing with other transfer plans. However, the club’s next major signing could now depend on how negotiations with Vinicius unfold over the coming weeks.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Vinicius Junior’s contract decision could determine whether Real Madrid complete the signing of Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig.
The report states that Diomande’s move appeared close to completion only a few weeks ago. However, the deal has stalled after RB Leipzig increased their original asking price.
Mundo Deportivo claims there are now two possible outcomes regarding Vinicius Junior. If the Brazilian rejects Real Madrid’s renewal proposal, the club will immediately place him on the transfer market.
The hierarchy do not want to risk losing him on a free transfer next year, particularly with fears that Paris Saint-Germain could sign him without paying a transfer fee.
However, the situation changes if Vinicius Junior agrees a new contract. Real Madrid could then decide against completing the move for Diomande, especially with Leipzig now demanding a higher fee.
The Spanish club would also face significant spending after pursuing both Diomande and Rodri Hernandez. The Rodri deal could cost around €60 million to €70 million.
Real Madrid are also expected to sanction further departures before completing more signings.
Following Gonzalo’s exit and the expected departure of Mastantuono, Eduardo Camavinga has reportedly been identified as the leading candidate to generate funds.
The report also adds that Brahim Diaz could leave because of Bernardo Silva’s arrival and Arda Guler’s presence in the squad.
