Yan Diomande chooses his next club

Diomande still has a contract running until 2030.

Liverpool’s search for Mohamed Salah’s replacement has suffered a major setback after Yan Diomande reportedly decided on his preferred destination.

The Premier League giants have tracked several wide forwards ahead of the summer transfer window following Salah’s departure after nine successful years at Anfield.

Diomande was high on Liverpool’s shortlist. He enjoyed a breakout campaign in Germany and quickly attracted attention from Europe’s biggest clubs.

The teenager exploded onto the scene during his first season in the Bundesliga after producing impressive numbers for RB Leipzig.

He scored 13 goals and registered 10 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions while helping Leipzig secure Champions League qualification.

His performances also earned him the Bundesliga Young Player of the Season award.

Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain all entered the race for the Ivory Coast international ahead of the summer window.

However, according to Foot Mercato, RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande has now given his verbal agreement to join Paris Saint-Germain.

The report claims PSG have moved ahead of Liverpool in the race after convincing the 19-year-old over a move to Paris.

Diomande would join an already strong attacking group featuring Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola.

The report also states that Diomande remained interested in Liverpool but showed little interest in joining Bayern Munich. Now, PSG must attempt to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig.

Diomande still has a contract running until 2030, placing Leipzig in a strong negotiating position.

Leipzig could also attempt to offer the winger a new improved contract in an effort to keep him at the club beyond this summer. For now, though, PSG appear to have taken a significant step towards winning the race for Yan Diomande.
