Chelsea have banned Enzo Fernandez for the comments he made during the international break. The Argentine midfielder is set to miss two important games for the Blues.
After the loss to PSG, Enzo Fernandez spoke openly about his future. He kept the door ajar for a possible exit by saying:
“I don’t know. My focus is here for now. We have eight Premier League matches to play and the FA Cup. Then, the World Cup coming up so we’ll see after that.”
Also, during the international break, in an interview, Fernandez asked about the city he would like to live outside London, and the Argentine said this:
“I’d like to live in Madrid. It’s a beautiful city, it reminds me of Buenos Aires.”
This has not gone down well with the current Chelsea boss, Liam Rosenior, who publicly informed that Fernandez will be unavailable for the Port Vale and Manchester City games. He said (via the Guardian):
“I spoke with Enzo about an hour ago. As a football club, with me as part of the decision, he won’t be available for tomorrow’s game [the FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale] or Manchester City next Sunday.
“It’s disappointing for Enzo to speak that way. I have got no bad words to say about him but a line was crossed in terms of our culture and what we want to build.”
Rosenior also clarified that there is no friction inside the team and they are fighting together to save the season. The manager said:
“I want to make this very clear, there is no rift in the dressing room. There is not a group of players not speaking to another group of players.
“We are together – me including. Every club go through difficult moments. We’ve had a very difficult 10 days. Now is the time to come together and perform.”
