Ange Postecoglou is already set to return management.
The former Celtic boss was relieved of his duties as Tottenham Hotspur manager eight days ago.
This is despite winning Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years two weeks prior.
They were crowned UEFA Europa League champions after a 1-0 final win against Manchester United in Bilbao.
However, this win was not deemed enough to gloss over a 17th place finish in the Premier League.
With just 11 wins and 22 losses, they only had two defeats less than 19th place Ipswich Town.
Despite only having a -1 goal difference, they managed to muster up a measly 38 points.
This is by far their lowest points total since the inception of the Premier League in 1992.
This sets the record previously set in the 1997/98 season, when they earned 44 points.
Their 38 points in 2024/25 was their lowest since the 1976/77 season, the last time they were relegated.
Earlier this season, Postecoglou claimed he “always wins” in his second season.
He stuck to his word by virtue of the Europa League win.
During the club’s trophy parade, Postecoglou proclaimed that “the third season is always better than the second”.
Whilst he will not be able to deliver on this promise, the next chapter of his managerial career looks set to begin.
Postecoglou set for return to management
It has been reported that Saudi side Al Ahli have made contact with Postecoglou.
Current manager Matthias Jaissle has been linked with a move to Europe.
Should this be the case, then Postecoglou is being earmarked as the replacement.
For Postecoglou, he will need to decide whether he wants to coach in a lesser quality league.
The Saudi Pro League side finished in fifth place in the 2024/25 campaign.
They will be hoping that Postecoglou can be the man to take them up the table next season.
