Bayern Munich are heading into one of their biggest games of the season. The pressure is building ahead of their trip to the Spanish capital for their Champions League quarter-final.
However, there has been a growing concern in recent days. A key player’s fitness has put the entire plan in doubt. Meanwhile, the issue began during the international break.
Harry Kane missed England’s friendly defeat to Japan last week. At the same time, Thomas Tuchel tried to calm the situation. He described it as a minor problem before the match. He said,
“It’s a minor injury from basically out of nothing.”
Still, the situation did not improve quickly. However, Kane had to leave training early. Tuchel confirmed he stepped out after just 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, there was no chance for him to feature in that game. Further checks were needed to understand the injury.
At the same time, Bayern also felt the impact. Kane missed the Bundesliga clash against Freiburg. Vincent Kompany later confirmed the issue. He revealed that the striker had suffered an ankle injury.
However, the Bayern boss remained confident. He made it clear that the problem was not serious. He said,
“Harry trained well until Sunday, then he felt something in his ankle while with the national team.”
As a result, all focus shifted to the Champions League clash. Bayern are set to face Real Madrid in the quarter-final first leg.
Meanwhile, the uncertainty around Kane created tension. Bayern need their main striker for such a big night. But now, the latest update has finally arrived.
Florian Plettenberg reported that Kane took part in Bayern’s final training session on Monday in Munich. If nothing unusual happens, he is expected to play against Real Madrid as planned.
That changes everything for Bayern. Kane has already scored 10 goals in this Champions League campaign.
