Roberto De Zerbi will start his tenure as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur against Sunderland on Sunday.
However, before the game, the Spurs received a massive boost in their pursuit of a Premier League winner.
The next summer transfer window will be of massive importance for the Spurs. However, their initial goal will be to avoid relegation.
But they cannot wait for the season to finish before picking their main targets. Roberto De Zerbi has already identified the first player he would like to sign for Tottenham.
Now, there is another player whom the Spurs would like to sign next summer. De Zerbi wants to ensure he has a strong defence.
For that, the experience will be the key. So, when a former Premier League winner becomes available for free, it is one of those deals they would be eager to do.
According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are now leading the race to sign Andy Robertson next summer. Robertson will be available on a free transfer.
The Scottish international already announced that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. And, Robertson was linked to the Spurs in January.
So, as Robertson is available next summer, they will surely be trying to sign the player. However, they might face competition from Atletico Madrid and other European clubs.
Thus, the Spurs will be looking to make the move early, as they would want to avoid competition from various European giants.
