Roberto De Zerbi has addressed speculation surrounding his future at Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian manager made his stance clear during a recent media interaction.
However, the situation is not as straightforward as many expected.
Tottenham are currently battling relegation from the Premier League. That has raised serious questions about the club’s direction.
Meanwhile, many assumed De Zerbi’s future would depend on survival. But the manager has now dismissed that idea. Speaking to reporters, De Zerbi said (via Sky Sports):
“The problem is not the league. The problem is to keep the relationship with the board and to have the same ideas in the project.”
That makes his position clear. Alignment with the club’s hierarchy matters more than league status. Meanwhile, Spurs are still active in the transfer market.
They are planning for multiple scenarios heading into the summer. Transfer News Live reported earlier that they have agreed a deal in principle with Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.
They are also plotting a shock move for Liverpool’s Andy Robertson once his contract expires, as the Scottish already announcing his departure.
However, those plans depend heavily on their Premier League status. At the same time, several key players could leave if relegation becomes a reality.
That adds further uncertainty to the project De Zerbi is trying to build. Despite this, the manager remains focused on unity.
He stressed the importance of everyone being “on the same page” moving forward. Now, Tottenham face a defining period.
