Cristiano Ronaldo could be on the verge of achieving something rarely seen in professional football, even at this stage of his legendary career.
The 41-year-old continues to chase history on multiple fronts. He is closing in on the incredible milestone of 1,000 career goals, needing just 31 more strikes to reach that figure.
At the same time, he is set to feature for Portugal at the upcoming World Cup. If he does, it will mark a record-breaking sixth appearance at the tournament.
He could also become the first player to score in six different World Cup finals. However, another unique opportunity may now be on the horizon.
According to Al Wiam, Al Nassr are considering promoting Cristiano Ronaldo Jr into the first-team squad next season. That decision would open the door for a rare moment in football history.
Ronaldo Jr is still only 15 years old, but he has already made significant progress in his career. He has represented Portugal at the youth level and even won the U17 World Cup.
His development has taken place at some of the biggest academies in world football. He has trained at Real Madrid, Juventus, and Manchester United before continuing his journey at Al Nassr.
His numbers at the youth level have also caught attention. He scored 58 goals in 23 matches for Juventus’ U-9 team and followed that with 56 goals in 27 matches for Al Nassr’s U-15 side.
As a result, Al Nassr will assess his progress at the end of the season before making a final decision.
If they decide to promote him, Cristiano Ronaldo could share the pitch with his son, something that has only happened a few times at the top level.
Now, similar moments have been seen before. Eidur Gudjohnson once replaced his father Arnor for Iceland, while Rivaldo and Henrik Larsson also played alongside their sons.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo still has one year left on his contract and remains central to the club’s plans.
Now, he could be on the verge of writing another unique chapter in his career alongside Cristiano Ronaldo Jr.
