Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt another setback ahead of a crucial Premier League fixture, with fresh injury concerns emerging at a critical stage of the season.
Spurs are preparing to face Wolves with just five games remaining, knowing that every point could decide their fate.
They currently sit only two points above the relegation zone, which leaves no room for error. However, their preparations have taken a hit.
Destiny Udogie has emerged as a doubt for the trip to Molineux. The 23-year-old has already endured a difficult season with multiple fitness issues, including knee and hamstring problems.
He had only recently returned from a hamstring injury and started both of Roberto De Zerbi’s opening matches in charge this month.
That made his availability seem stable heading into this key period. But that is no longer the case.
According to The Sun, Udogie is now a doubt for the Wolves clash, although the exact nature of his latest issue remains unclear. This adds to an already worrying injury list.
De Zerbi has already lost Mohammed Kudus and Cristian Romero for the rest of the season due to quad and knee injuries.
At the same time, Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison have missed the entire campaign with serious knee problems. However, there was a slight boost at the weekend.
Maddison returned to the bench during the 2-2 draw with Brighton, eight months after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season. Although he did not warm up, his presence offered some encouragement.
Meanwhile, Tottenham’s form continues to be a concern. They have not won a Premier League match since December 28.
Despite that, Roberto De Zerbi remains confident. Speaking after the Brighton draw, he insisted his side can win all five of their remaining games.
Off the pitch, the club are also taking steps to address deeper issues. Tottenham are looking to hire a psychologist to help improve the squad’s mentality.
With injuries mounting and pressure increasing, Tottenham now face a defining moment in their quest of Premier League survival.
