Real Madrid are once again dealing with major controversy behind the scenes.
The atmosphere around the Santiago Bernabeu has become increasingly tense after a difficult period both on and off the pitch.
The Spanish giants recently suffered another painful El Clasico defeat, which handed the LaLiga title to Barcelona with three games still left to play.
As a result, pressure has continued to mount on manager Alvaro Arbeloa, whose future at the club now looks uncertain. Jose Mourinho is already linked with a sensational return to the Bernabeu.
However, managerial uncertainty is not the only issue currently causing problems inside the club.
Last week, reports emerged of a heated altercation between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde during training.
The situation quickly became one of the biggest stories in Spanish football after details from the incident leaked publicly. The physical bust-up reportedly left Valverde in hospital.
Now, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes the club may finally know who is responsible for leaking information from inside the dressing room.
Speaking to La Sexta, Perez admitted that dressing room clashes are not unusual at Real Madrid but suggested someone deliberately wanted this incident to become public knowledge. He said (via AS):
“Regarding the fights… several players have fought every year.
“When it’s public, it’s because someone wanted to know about it.
“We have an idea [of who it is]. After this, everything is chaos, it’s ruin.”
Meanwhile, both Tchouameni and Valverde reportedly received fines of around £440,000 following the incident, which was allegedly triggered by a strong challenge during training.
With tensions rising across the club, Real Madrid now face a difficult task to restore stability before the situation spirals even further out of control.
