The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is set to deliver something football fans have never seen before.
For the first time in the tournament’s history, the final will include a major halftime show inspired by the Super Bowl format in the United States.
The match itself will take place at MetLife Stadium on July 19 as the United States, Mexico and Canada co-host the competition.
While Coldplay were already confirmed for the show last year, fresh details about the lineup have now emerged.
A video posted on Coldplay’s official X account revealed several major names joining the performance.
The announcement itself quickly went viral because Elmo appeared alongside Coldplay frontman Chris Martin to unveil the guests.
Among the biggest additions is Shakira, whose song Waka Waka became one of football’s most recognisable World Cup anthems during the 2010 tournament.
The Colombian star is also reportedly preparing another song for the 2026 competition. She will release the song titled “Dai Dai” in the coming days.
Madonna will also perform during the show, while South Korean supergroup BTS confirmed their involvement through a FaceTime appearance in the video.
The entertainment lineup does not stop there. Cookie Monster, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will also appear during the halftime spectacle.
Reports also suggest FIFA could significantly extend the traditional halftime interval to allow enough time for stage setup and performances.
Madonna, Shakira and BTS will co-headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup™ Final Halftime Show at the New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19.
