Chelsea open talks for blockbuster move to sign prolific €100M striker

The Blues want to strengthen several areas of the squad before next season.

Xabi Alonso

Chelsea are already preparing for a huge summer rebuild after confirming Xabi Alonso will officially become the club’s new manager from July 1.

The Blues want to strengthen several areas of the squad before next season. However, signing a new striker remains one of the biggest priorities at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea struggled for consistency in attack throughout the campaign despite flashes of quality from several forwards.

Joao Pedro impressed at times and scored more than 20 goals in all competitions. He also won Chelsea’ Player of the Season award.

However, the Brazilian often looked more dangerous playing behind a central striker rather than leading the line himself.

Now, according to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have opened talks over a move for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian international remained a long-term target for the London club in recent years.

However, financial concerns and Chelsea’s transfer strategy previously prevented a deal from happening. So, Osimhen completed a permanent move to Galatasaray after a successful loan spell.

The striker continued his outstanding form in Turkey this season. Osimhen scored 22 goals and produced eight assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray.

The report claims the striker’s representatives are now exploring possible moves as the 27-year-old looks to join another elite European club.

Despite Chelsea potentially missing out on Champions League football next season, Osimhen reportedly remains interested in the move because of the chance to work under Alonso.

However, Galatasaray do not want to lose their star forward. The Turkish champions reportedly value Osimhen at around €100 million.

Now, Arsenal are also eyeing a move for Osimhen, as Transfer News Live revealed earlier. Chelsea still view the striker as one of the best attacking options available in world football.

If Chelsea complete the deal, Osimhen could form a dangerous attack alongside Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer, and Estevao next season.
