France star’s home targeted in attempted robbery with several suspects arrested

Breaking News - France

A World Cup-winning French football star reportedly became the target of a terrifying attempted burglary at his home in France this week.

According to Le Parisien, emergency services rushed into action after several suspicious individuals were spotted outside the player’s property in Marseille.

The incident reportedly happened during the late afternoon and quickly led to a major police operation across the city.

Five men were eventually arrested and charged following the attempted break-in.

The report claims the footballer’s wife first alerted authorities after discovering a group of men inside the garden of their home.

When confronted, the suspects reportedly fled the scene immediately in a Mercedes vehicle.

Police later located and stopped a car matching the description before arresting all five individuals involved.

Police reportedly already know the suspects and believe they belong to a travelling burglary group targeting homes across the country.

The footballer involved was former France international Benjamin Pavard. The defender currently plays for Marseille after spending the season on loan from Inter Milan.

It remains unclear whether Pavard himself was inside the house during the attempted robbery.

The incident arrived only days after the defender confirmed his departure from Marseille following the end of his loan spell.

Pavard remains one of France’s most recognisable footballers after helping Les Bleus win the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The defender famously started during France’s 4-2 victory over Croatia in the final. He earned 55 international caps for his country.

However, he was out of France’s preliminary World Cup squad this summer after not featuring internationally since 2024.

Fortunately, reports claim neither Pavard nor his family suffered any physical harm during the attempted break-in at their Marseille property.
