Liverpool are keeping their cards close this summer.
With new boss Arne Slot settling in and a busy transfer window already underway, much of the attention has been on attack and midfield.
But the defence could also see big changes, especially if one young centre-back decides to move on.
The club’s 22-year-old defender, Jarell Quansah, is attracting serious interest from across Europe.
And while Liverpool have not made a final decision yet, they are preparing in case he departs.
That planning includes sounding out a Premier League star who just wrapped up a historic season.
Talks were first held back in March. At the time, it seemed more like future planning.
But now, the tone has shifted. The target in question is about to enter the final year of his contract. And, his club knows this summer is their last chance to cash in.
If they wait too long, he could walk away for free in 2026.
His situation is ideal for Liverpool. He has top-flight experience, leadership qualities, and has already worn the armband at club level.
His price tag, expected to be between £40–45 million, makes him a much more affordable option compared to other big names being linked with moves.
He also fits the mould of what Liverpool are building, young, hungry, and already proven on a big stage.
And that stage could not have been bigger than Wembley in May.
Against Manchester City, in a tense FA Cup final, he led his team to a historic 1–0 win, Crystal Palace’s first-ever FA Cup title.
According to DaveOCKOP, the man high on Liverpool’s shortlist is none other than Marc Guehi, the former Chelsea academy graduate who has quietly grown into one of England’s most reliable defenders.
If Quansah moves, do not be surprised if Guehi is the one walking through the doors at Anfield next.
