Jurgen Klopp begins talks with Saudi Pro League club

Fresh reports have now linked Klopp with a surprise move to Saudi Arabia.

Jurgen Klopp has remained away from frontline management since leaving Liverpool. However, his future in football continues to attract huge attention across Europe and the Middle East.

The German currently works as Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull after taking the role in January 2025.

The position sees Klopp oversee several clubs inside the Red Bull network, including RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg and New York Red Bulls. Meanwhile, Klopp has repeatedly insisted he has no immediate plans to return to coaching.

He also reaffirmed that he would never manage another English club following his successful spell at Liverpool. The former manager transformed the club during his nine-year stay at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp guided Liverpool from a struggling side into one of Europe’s strongest teams while building a reputation for aggressive and intense football.

During his time at the club, Liverpool won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Community Shield.

Klopp managed 491 matches and recorded the highest win percentage in Liverpool’s history.

However, despite his public stance regarding management, fresh reports have now linked him with a surprise move to Saudi Arabia.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad recently resumed talks with Jurgen Klopp over a possible technical role at the club.

The Saudi giants reportedly approached Klopp in recent months following major internal changes behind the scenes.

Al-Ittihad recently dismissed manager Sergio Conceicao after the club finished fifth in the league.

Meanwhile, CEO Domingos Soares and sporting director Ramon Planes also departed during a wider administrative restructure.

Klopp is reportedly viewed as the club’s dream appointment. However, the role under discussion is not linked to coaching duties directly.

Instead, Al-Ittihad allegedly want Klopp to become Technical Director and oversee the club’s transfer operations and long-term technical project.

The position would also involve managing high-profile stars such as Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté.

Despite previous denials from Klopp’s long-time agent Marc Kosicke, reports claim discussions between both parties restarted recently.

Also, Al-Ittihad is dreaming of signing Mohamed Salah. So, Klopp’s involvement could help them a lot in getting the nod from the Egyptian.

However, Klopp has reportedly maintained one major condition throughout negotiations.

The German would only consider joining Al-Ittihad after the beginning of the league season in October 2026, shortly after the end of his Red Bull contract obligations.

Reports also suggest Klopp would supervise the project remotely at first, while his assistants would handle pre-season preparations and the opening league fixtures.
